When Jack Burns, a drifter and cowboy, learns that his best friend Paul Bondy is in jail, he decides to free him at any cost. To do so, he starts a drunken brawl, and when they refuse to put him in the overcrowded jail, he insults a police officer on top of that. He achieves his goal, but when he meets his friend, Jack discovers that Paul doesn’t want to escape—he intends to serve his sentence honestly and return to his family.
