The Banshees of Inisherin 2022

The year is 1923, on the island of Inisherin off the west coast of Ireland. There aren’t many people here, and Podrick—a simple, good-natured farmer—is kept company by his level-headed, unmarried sister, a dim-witted policeman’s son, a tiny donkey named Jenny, and, most importantly, his best friend—an elderly fiddler named Colm. One day, while following his usual route, Podrick stops by to pick up Colm on his way to the pub, but Colm suddenly refuses not only to have a drink but even to talk to him. Cornered, Colm tells Podrick that he finds him boring, and if he keeps pestering him, he’ll cut off his own finger.
