The Sure Thing 1985

Gib is a handsome, smart, and interesting guy with a great sense of humor, but he’s had no luck in love. For some reason, the girls in Gib’s freshman class don’t take him seriously. For winter break, Gib plans to visit his friend in California, having heard his buddy’s stories about a beauty in a bikini who’s just waiting for Gib on the beach. “She’s just what you need!”—Gib likes the idea of meeting a girl like that, so he sets off on his journey. His unexpected travel companion turns out to be Alison, a slightly nerdy straight-A classmate who’s heading in the same direction to meet her not-so-pleasant fiancé. Alison and Gib are polar opposites who, as often happens, begin to gravitate toward each other along the way—with the most romantic consequences! Will the beauty in the bikini get to meet Gib? Will the fiancé get to see his Alison? That is the question.
