One night, Mike Hammer picked up a half-naked blonde who was in a state of nervous agitation and put her in his car. The girl didn’t have time to tell the detective much before they were caught up by some suspicious-looking men. Hammer didn’t regain consciousness until several days later in the hospital, where, barely alive, he learned that the girl had been killed.
