In a quiet, remote area lives a small community of Ammonites under the strict leadership of Brother Isaiah. When Martha, a city girl, marries Isaiah’s son, Jim, she moves to a farm located on the community’s property. Eventually, Jim is driven out because many disapproved of his marriage to Martha, and he is later found murdered in the barn on his own farm. Isaiah strongly urges Martha to leave their commune, but she refuses and invites two friends—Lana and Vicky—to join her. Soon, Lana begins to suffer from nightmares, and Martha realizes that she and her friends have become victims of the commune, which is intimidating and persecuting them.
