Karen and Michael Carr, a married couple from Los Angeles, lead a quiet family life until one night a burglar breaks into their home. Michael tries to defend his home and wife with a golf club, but the intruder grabs a kitchen knife and takes his wife hostage. Fortunately, the criminal flees without harming the couple. The couple calls the police, and that’s how Police Officer Pete Davis first arrives at their home; they soon become friends with him. One evening, Pete takes Michael along on patrol and apprehends a burglar who had broken into the Carrs’ home. Pete suggests beating up the criminal, but Michael refuses and realizes that he and his wife would be better off staying away from the police officer.
