Following the death of his ex-wife, the once-famous film director Gustav Borg arrives for the funeral. He reunites with his adult daughters, whom he hasn’t seen in many years, and offers his eldest daughter, Nora—a stage actress—a role in his new film. Gustav plans to shoot the film based on a very personal screenplay and in the house where several generations of his family lived, but Nora, who is resentful toward her father, refuses. A young Hollywood star then takes her place.
