A deadly virus is brought from Africa to America by an infected monkey. Epidemiologists from the U.S. Army’s Infectious Diseases Research Institute, including Colonel Sam Daniels, rush to the epicenter of the outbreak. Two of Sam’s superiors—high-ranking military officials—hide from him the fact that they are aware of this virus, which they have been developing for several years. Moreover, they have nearly developed a serum capable of neutralizing the virus. To prevent a devastating epidemic, they need the serum, which can only be obtained from the blood of the original carrier—that very monkey.
