A sequel to the adventures of Marvel's funniest and most dangerous character. Wolverine, played by Hugh Jackman, will also appear in the movie.

Deadpool & Wolverine 4K Review
Cynical and sarcastic Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) is tired of being badass Deadpool and wants to become a member of the Avengers team, but is turned down. As Wilson comes to terms with his decision and settles into a peaceful life, agents from the Office of Temporal Change drop by and send him to Mr. Paradox (Matthew MacFadyen). There, Deadpool learns that his timeline is under threat - to save himself, the hero must travel across the multiverse and find Logan (Hugh Jackman).

Marvel's trick of rolling out multiverse movies is finally out of control. Now corporate humor and rituals for fandom are masquerading as a two-hour plot-driven movie - this is what the culmination of the superfranchise era looks like. The studio's only movie this year and the one about time manipulation, where Deadpool - a talkative cynic in tights - meets the unsociable Wolverine. Of course, to a fanfare of endless Easter eggshells, character appearances and nostalgic reminiscences of the past. In other words, the Marvel movie universe today resembles a desert with ruins - not without reason and the action of Shawn Levy's film unfolds just there, among the lying brands (the 20th Century Fox logo has grown into the ground) and the characters of twenty years ago, written off as scrap. But we'd better keep silent about them, observing formal geek decorum.

“Deadpool and Wolverine” not just winks at fans, but forms a whole network of hyperlinks: the celebrants realize themselves not only superheroes, but Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, recall former roles, and also whiz through the gallery of fame of Fox Studios (among the post-apocalyptic landscapes is found the Statue of Liberty from ‘Planet of the Apes’). A plot looping through the multiverse is just an excuse to deploy humor and multiple cameos to re-inflate the pop culture bubble. A geek commentary movie or a geek commentary stylized as a two-hour movie? More likely the latter.

But even with abundant, in places annoying self-references, Shawn Levy's comic book movie knows how to approach the viewer. Cheeky action does its job - chatty Deadpool still as cynically introduces himself, and then performs a bloody number, smashing a squad of agents with the bones of the dead Wolverine (keep in mind that we said goodbye to him in “Logan”). Deadpool found in Logan not only an accomplice, but also an opponent - both can compete in the mastery of profanity (and here Hugh Jackman really without falsity gives out a bad Wolverine), and in the art of regeneration. A cheeky, irreverent matinee for adults (Marvel decided to go R-rated) tries to be a salvation defibrillation for the comic book movies that everyone is tired of. True, the genre's salvation is once again illusory: the crossover exploits the same techniques, just with profanity, blood and meat, which are alternately softened by moments of touching sincerity.

In the multiverse, anything can happen: from the arrival of unexpected guests to a parade of a hundred versions of Deadpool (if you've seen the battle of multiple Spider-Men in Sony's animated movie, the parade is basically no longer surprising). But where is the line between creative freedom and rattling a familiar brand? Between a superhero movie and a self-indulgent parody of it? Between a full-fledged movie and bombastic content within an internet discourse? “Deadpool and Wolverine” is laden with postmodernism, just as the characters' bodies are pierced with blades. A reprise passes into another reprise, a flashback passes the baton to the next flashback - such a superhero encounter, redundant in events and geek references, does not even need a main villain (although there is an antagonist here and, as befits Marvel of recent years, strictly for pro forma - so you should not rely on Cassandra Nova).

While some enthusiastically accept the secret messages of the authors, others risk leaving the multiplex with a headache. Will Deadpool & Wolverine bring back the former glory of the MCU? Barely. And that's perhaps the main tragedy of superheroics losing the epic breath of its first phases and building a virtual semblance of Comic Con on the screen. Ultimately, what chance does our universe have if even Deadpool and Wolverine can't save it?
