Jeremiah Johnson 1972

The mid-19th century. After returning from the Mexican-American War, Jeremiah Johnson decides to leave his old life behind, abandon the plains, and go live in the mountains to become a trapper. He gradually adapts to the wilderness, overcoming hardships, for here a man must face a half-starved existence and attacks by predators, as well as encounter hostile Native Americans who consider these territories their own.
