The Human Condition II: Road to Eternity 1959

Kaji, a staunch pacifist forced to serve in the Japanese army during World War II, helps his friend escape to the USSR and is himself on the verge of fleeing with him. Despite his aversion to war, Kaji does everything in his power to help his comrades, most of whom are doomed to fall under the merciless attacks of the Soviet Army.
