Tokyo Story 1953

An elderly couple travels from the countryside to Tokyo to visit their children: a son who has become a doctor and a daughter who has opened a beauty salon. The children are too busy, so they send their parents to a resort. After a sleepless night at the noisy resort, the parents return to Tokyo. Before leaving, the mother spends the night with the widow of their other son, while the father meets up with his old drinking buddies. It turns out that only the son’s widow gives the elderly couple the warm welcome they deserve, with the love and attention they so desperately need.
